Maker Festival 2019 Cancelled

Posted on May 24, 2019 Under news

We are sad to announce that Maker Festival will not be taking place this July 2019.

The Toronto Public Library introduced a new policy this year which would have had a major impact on our Festival. Despite mutual attempts to reach a beneficial compromise in a timely fashion, we were unable to find a way to produce a quality Festival that is aligned with our shared values.

Maker Festival brings together Toronto and the surrounding areas’ most creative makers, providing a platform for curiosity, wonder and learning to thousands of participants. We are proud of the impact, the friendships and the joy that we have created and fostered in our community.

Thank you all for your years of enthusiastic support of Maker Festival. While we are very sorry that the Festival is not happening as planned this summer, we look forward to bringing the community together again to share our passion for making. Our team and the Library are actively exploring the future of Maker Festival.

We invite you to join the conversation in shaping what this future looks like. Share your vision of Maker Festival by emailing us at and don’t forget to join our mailing list (SEE BELOW) to learn what’s coming next!

We look forward to making all the things with you again soon!
