The Colborne Lodge John the Maker Activity Pop Up
The pop-up will highlight the innovative spirit of John George Howard and his fellow Torontonians circa 1867. Elements will include:
• The John Howard Bridge Design Challenge for aspiring city builders of all ages.
• A working model of the Howards’ Pan Water Closet – purported to be the first indoor flush toilet in Toronto.
• Two useable Camera Obscura – one of the pieces of tech behind John Howard’s detailed watercolours of early Toronto.
• Reproductions of John Howard’s designs for Toronto’s early architecture and city infrastructure, and his sources of inspiration.
