We explored ways to filter out the micro-fibres of our laundry water from going down the drain. The emphasis is on home-made solutions and simple materials so that people can do this themselves. Through experimentation we’ve found out what works and what doesn’t. The purpose of this project is not only to propose one solution, but also to start people thinking and trying some of the many ways they can tackle this problem themselves.
Hands-on activity at the Festival:
We will provide new and actual used filters that show the plastics fibres removed from laundry water. Using scales and a video microscope people can see and measure the plastic fibres trapped in the filter.
We will supply some filter material kits with which people can make their own filter kits, either at the faire or at home.
We will also challenge people to come up with their own designs.
