MakerEdTO – Maker Educators of Toronto

We aim to connect with Toronto teachers, parents, and students attending Maker Festival. We will share highlights from our Professional Development Conference with teachers and parents, and promote STEM/MakerEd based classrooms. Not only will We have student work samples showing the exciting things going on in our classrooms, we will have activities for adults and children alike to try out! These interactive activities will be things we have tested within our own classrooms, and will range from low-tech to high-tech.

Hands-on activity at the Festival:
While we are specifically aimed at the education sector, we believe that Making is for all ages. Adults will enjoy the Da Vinci bridges and golf ball structure testing with slow-mo video as much as the children will! Visitors will be able to try both these low-tech activities and high-tech activities involving coding and electronics that are actually being used in TOronto classrooms. While we love sending our students home from school with finished projects, for the festival we aim to be as sustainable as possible, meaning that when participants finish their activity, the materials (eg. straws, popsicle sticks, etc.) will be taken apart and reused.
