SciCommTO – Knit-a-Neuron

Where do your ideas come from? How do you learn to create? What happens when you forget?
The brain is the fascinating centre of creativity for all of us and neurons are the basic data processing units, the ‘chips’, of the brain. These cells are involved in everything, from the way we sense the world to the way we move our body.
Join SciCommTO and experts from the Ontario Brain Institute to learn how to knit your very own plushy neuron whilst learning about their current neuroscience research and what these cells do. All knitting levels are welcome; experienced knitters will be on hand to get you started. Wool and needles will be provided and you can choose to either take your neuron home or donate them to the Ontario Brain Institute. Share pictures of your finished work to #KnitANeuronTO!

Hands-on activity at the Festival:
This workshop will teach participants how to use knitting or crochet techniques to create neurons. All knitting levels are welcome; experienced knitters will be on hand to get you started. Materials will be available and participants can choose to take their neurons home or donate them to the Ontario Brain Institute.
