Toronto’s Maker Festival Expands to an Entire Month of Making

Posted on April 20, 2016 Under Events

HUZZAH! We come with exciting news!

As always, Maker Festival’s main event – the Weekend Extravaganza – will be hosted by the Toronto Reference Library on July 9 + 10. Save the date!

Here’s the super exciting part – this year, we’re also expanding to include an ENTIRE MONTH of making – with over 80 satellite events, including workshops, open houses, speaker series, meet ups and more, hosted by creative individuals and organizations across Toronto from June 15th – July 17th.

Yup. A whole month. It’s going to be nuts.

Why the expansion?

Maker spaces, studios, meet ups and other creative-hubs continue to pop up around the city, often hidden from view from those who aren’t already part of those communities. Check out this interactive gaming studio on the Danforth, this DIY Biology lab operating out of Hacklab on Queen West, this textiles studio down the street from them, this tech-meets-art space on Ossington, or this downtown maker space that just opened up as part of the new Centre for Social Innovation building.

Toronto is jam-packed with emerging creative communities, and the Month of Making is your opportunity to dip your toes in!

Pumped? So are we. If you’d like us to keep you in the loop, sign up for our mailing list here, follow us on facebook, or tweet at us relentlessly if thats your jam.

The Call for Satellite events ends on May 15th – if you have an event, workshop, space, meet up or similar that you’d like included in the Maker Festival line up, find out more and apply here.
