Project In Progress (PIP) is a humble open house social night where attendees hear from Toronto’s creative types about what’s keeping them up at night. We curate a handful of speakers to talk for 3-5 minutes each on their project. All you have to do is sit back, have a drink, and cheer them on. Projects can be anything from robots to businesses, or from artwork to events. It can be an idea, scheme, prototype, almost there, stuck, failed, abandoned… anything but finished.

In this 3 hour workshop, each participant will learn how to make fundamental forms with clay using a slab-built method. Each person will be given 3lbs of cone 6 mid-porcelain clay, and access to tools and underglazes to build and decorate their own unique mug, espresso cup, vase or planter. One to two pieces can be made, depending on the size. Surface techniques will be explored with underglaze and carving to create beautiful AND functional pieces.

You’ll be supplied with beautiful, decorative papers to be used as end pages and to cover boards. Case bindings are extremely strong and durable book forms that are great for writing, sketchbooks and sharing.
All participants will leave with one 8.5 x 5.5” handmade German case binding book sample, as well as instructions to make more books at home!

Sculpt your own ceramic vase from our amazing low-fire clay. Then, underglaze with your choice of smile-inducing colours. The workshop runs for 90 minutes, enough time for each participant to create 1 clay vase. Materials and firing included. Don’t worry, be happy!
