Why we do this Maker Faire thing again?

Why do we do this? What keeps us going? Our collective enthusiasm for maker culture is certainly one important reason, but it’s also about receiving emails like this one:

Hi Jen,

I’m a 13 year old boy who has recently gotten into electronics through the Raspberry Pi. few weeks ago, I finished my Raspberry Pi powered, Wiimote controlled RC car. I’m super proud, and would like to share. My uncle suggested I send an email to Maker Magazine, but that got me thinking…

I knew what Maker Faire was, and I was really interested, but I thought there was only one, just in NYC. However, I decided to take a look at the website anyways. That’s when I discovered all the ‘Mini’ maker faires! As I live in the GTA, the Toronto one would be perfect.

I was thinking this would be the perfect time to show off my car, before getting my hands dirty in one of the workshops.

Is it still possible to contribute to this years Faire, or am I too late?

– Matthew Reynolds

Nope, not late and yes you are coming. Thank you! ūüôā And, in case you’re wondering, here’s the car Matthew Reynolds will be showing at the Maker Faire!
